Business and Professional Women/USA, founded in 1919, promotes equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information.

With 23,300 members in more than 1,600 Local Organizations represented in every congressional district in the country, plus Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the American Samoa, BPW/USA includes among its members women and men of every age, race, religion, political party and socio-economic background.

There are 5 local BPW organizations in the state of Delaware; together, we are the Delaware Federation of Business & Professional Women.

The BPW Mission Statement:
"To achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information."

What's Happening in BPW?

BPW will grow stronger and have more far reaching impact on our core causes if each of us makes the effort this year to bring ONE new member into the local chapter to which we belong. Please click here to read more about all the exciting news out of BPW national and the critical need our organization has to focus on membership- both new members and giving current and lapsed members a reason to revive their committment to the organization.

Together, we can move our group ahead. Toward that goal, we encourage everyone to attend the Delaware State Convention on May 17, 2008 at the Delaware Tech campus in Georgetown, DE.

Note from the State President:

Several new policies and processes came out of the February 2008 BPW legislative convention. One of the most significant outcomes of the February convention was the adoption of amendments allowing every member to vote for national officers, area representatives, and bylaw changes. Now every member has a voice, not just those able to travel to national conference. This is a tremendous opportunity to participate and have your voice heard...even from a distance. BPW’s Political Action Committee (BPW/PAC) provides contributions and endorsements to women and pro-women candidates who support BPW’s legislative priorities.

In 1956, BPW members established the BPW Foundation to promote equity for workingwomen nationwide through education, information and research, while providing financial assistance for women seeking to further their education to advance in their careers or to reenter the workforce.
